This San Diego landmark hotel in Coronado has been enjoying associations with the rich and famous during its 120-year-old history. Needless to say, locals and many other vacationers come here, too, for a luxurious resort experience.
My favorite time of the year to visit here is around Christmas to see a huge holiday tree inside the hotel lobby. After spending an afternoon ice-skating on the beachfront rink at the hotel, we had this sunset view of the side of the hotel catching the last rays of the sun. Watching a glorious day under the California sun slipping into a cool, mysterious night was a magical moment.
