There are hilltop villages of white-washed houses in the southern Spain known as
los pueblos blancos. Among those, one of the most spectacular must be Arcos de la Frontera. The village sits on a steep limestone cliff as seen in the far distance of this painting.
The river meanders through the land down in the valley, dotted with olive groves. I liked the way the river drew me into the scene that was so serene. As you can imagine, a view from the top is absolutely breath-taking (If you're there, watch out for your hat; it will be blown away by strong updrafts). But that'll be another painting.
