This café stands right next to the North Station of Paris (that’s in the background of this painting).
Because the North Station is a hub for trains connecting Paris and points north of the city, including Brussels, Amsterdam, London, we hear many different languages spoken inside and outside the station.
It is the busiest rail station in Europe and the third busiest in the world, with 180 million travelers per year (source:
Wikipedia).
Good news for travelers is that they never have a hard time finding a place to sit as there are dozens of cafés lining up on the streets outside.
