The Montmartre district sits on a hilltop in the north of Paris. It was more like a village until recently with vineyards and windmills. A few of them still remain today.
It has a unique character of its own and thus has attracted an equally unique mix of people to live there. That includes great masters such as Van Gogh, Picasso, Modigliani and Toulouse-Lautrec. Today we see the next Van Gogh's and Picasso's on its squares and streets, offering to make our portraits.
