Valley Center (SD100-82)

About an hour north of downtown San Diego, Valley Center is a rural community situated in the middle of a heavily agricultural area.  During the month of October, lots of people from all over San Diego take the time to drive there to spend a day at a farm - at a huge pumpkin patch in particular.  With hayrides, a maze, a llama ride, a farm animal zoo, a candy store, music, BBQ... there's plenty to enjoy at this farm especially for families with young children.  Halloween pumpkins are sold nowadays at any grocery store or in a makeshift tent in many neighborhoods.  But for kids, there's nothing like actually seeing them grow and picking their favorite ones right off the ground.
