On our way to an inland community of Fallbrook, we often see avocado vendors by the roadside. No wonder, the town proudly holds the title of avocado capital of the world. It's in a rural area north of San Diego, away from freeways, nestled among rolling hills, forests, and, of course, avocado groves.
An isolated, sleepy village you think? If you've never been there, you'd be surprised to find a thriving art community. On the main street are several art galleries, an art school and an impressive art center. They attract many art lovers to town who visit for exhibitions, festivals, classes, and workshops, often taught by nationally-known artists. The building on the left is a cafe any artist (and non-artist) will enjoy. Café des Artistes, inside Art Center, is a great place to enjoy art and food with a Mediterranean flair.
