The moment I stepped in this narrow street, I was stopped in my tracks. I was not just blinded by the bright midday sunlight; I was hit by something more organic. It took me a few seconds before my eyes were adjusted to discover a spectacular aerial garden.
Residents living on this narrow street in the medieval section of Barcelona put out flowers, vines and ferns on their balconies. Some of the plants had grown so long, nourished by the warm Mediterranean sun, that they hung to look like waterfalls. Some even crawled on the wire to the buildings on the other side. The sunlight filtered through thousands of tiny green leaves bounced around and filled every nook and cranny of this alley.
