When approaching the island of Procida by boat, we first saw this harbor view. It was beautiful and exciting, but the thought of painting it was, at first, a little bit daunting.
All the buildings, although colorful, looked old with weathered walls and they seemed to be piling up on top of one another. We could see scooters and people busily moving about near a main square (where the church is). On the water, fishing boats and pleasure boats were bobbing and seagulls were floating...
Painting all these little elements individually would have captured the unique character of this island but I tried to capture the atmosphere first and painted everything in one go.
