In San Diego, first signs of autumn appear in and around the mountain region. A quaint hamlet of Julian at 4,235 feet, for example, is crowded every weekend as many people go there to enjoy apple picking and harvest festivals. Santa Ysabel is one of the small towns in San Diego's back country that we pass through on the way to popular mountain destinations such as Julian and Palomar Mountain.
But there's no need to ascend in a hurry. If you love painting a back country landscape in its pristine condition, there's a plenty of them near Santa Ysabel. The scenery along the way is astonishingly beautiful with sights like this. Driving on a winding road, up and down on rolling hills, you have a new vista after every turn. So inspired to paint them or take pictures of them, chances are you will never reach your destination in the mountains.
