Sitting at a cafe, we can watch the world go by. Here at the Old Port in Marseille, we can literally do that. For many centuries, foreign immigrants and their families have arrived here to live. They have brought their cultures and traditions, which has made Marseille "the meeting place of the entire world" as Alexandre Dumas said.
But people come and go. There are those who leave home to seek better opportunities outside Marseille. When I think about it, I start hearing in my head a beautiful song called "Marseille" by Patrick Fiori, a French popular singer from this city.
Bien souvent j'oublie la distance... Je suis parti loin pour saisir ma chance... J'espére que je serai toujours chez moi ŕ Marseille...
