It was here at the Old Port of Marseille that the Greeks from Phocaea came to settle in around 600 BC. They named this place Massalia.
Did they ever dream that Massalia or Marseille would be thriving as one of the biggest cities in France 2,600 years later?
Today, restaurants and cafes line up on the streets facing the port, which is always busy and full of colors with all kinds of fishing boats and pleasure boats.
