Paris Café XLIII, French Landscape Painting

Paris Café XLIII

Cafe de Flore is a historic cafe in the Saint-Germain-des-Pres neighborhood in Paris.  Next door is another famous cafe, Les Deux Magots.

Here are some interesting quotes on Paris and cafes.  Van Gogh's was not really my feelings but I thought the idea behind one of his masterpieces is intriguing.

"All I wanted was to connect my moods with those of Paris.  Beauty paints and when it painted most, I shot." - Ernst Haas, photographer

"Strangely enough, the first character in Fried Green Tomatoes was the cafe, and the town. I think a place can be as much a character in a novel as the people."  - Fannie Flagg, author

"In my painting of The Night Cafe, I've tried to express the idea that the cafe is a place where one can ruin oneself, become crazy and criminal." - Vincent Van Gogh, painter
