This painting was posted previously on my blog together with
another painting of the same ship, but is being introduced to Daily Painters Gallery for the first time here.
It shows a part of this massive naval aircraft carrier from the World War II era. Decommissioned, it is now open to the public as a museum floating on the San Diego Bay. On the deck of this ship is one of the most popular spots for San Diegans to see the Fourth of July Fireworks. This year, tickets for the spectacle are already sold out, according to the museum website, but don't give up if you are really interested! Yesterday someone in North County of San Diego was selling extra tickets on craigslist for only $1 (go to San Diego Craigslist).
If you'd like to know more about this ship, I recommend you visit the informative
USS Midway Museum website. There are lots of pictures of aircrafts, detailed description of its history, cool videos to watch, and even a sailor discussion board to feel the pride of those who served on the ship.
