When I was walking in a residential neighborhood in the city of Milan, a waiter popped out of a bar with a cup of espresso on a tray. He was on an important mission of delivering this tiny ceramic cup to a regular customer. He hurriedly disappeared into one of the buildings nearby so whoever ordered the coffee would still see the steam rising from the cup.
It happened so quickly (maybe 2 or 3 seconds) but it did bring me back to about 20 years ago when I was an officer worker in Tokyo, Japan.
My colleagues and I normally sipped coffee made in our coffee machine, but once in a while we indulged ourselves by ordering coffee from a nearby coffee shop. It was usually the youngest one among us to take orders from everyone and pick up the phone to call the shop. When the waitress arrived with a tray, our office was filled with a nice aroma of freshly brewed coffee...
