Milan, Italy III, Italian Landscape Painting

Milano, Italy III

Buildings of neo-classical architectural design are plenty in Milan.  I am not quite a painter of photorealism, so it was a challenge for me to attempt to simplify the scene without losing a characteristic flavor of this style.

This area in the western part of the old Milan is close to one of the major sights: Santa Maria delle Grazie, the church where Da Vinci's painting Last Supper can be seen (I said "can be" because advanced reservations are mandatory to see it).

It was unfortunate of me that the only day I could be in Milan was Monday -- the church was closed.  Now I have one good reason to go back!

Candy, thank you so much for your generous comment! I am on the road again this time in Japan, and it's nice to hear from fellow dp artists when I'm gone.
