San Diego 100 (#57) - La Jolla, California Landscape Painting

La Jolla (SD100-57)

This is a view from a seawall that stretches out from the Children's Pool to the Pacific Ocean.  The seawall was a gift from Ellen B. Scripps, a philanthropist and long-time La Jolla resident.

I like walking out onto the seawall because of a unique vantage point, like this, of the La Jolla coastline.

I also like it for another reason for which many visitors come here, too: to see marine mammals up close and personal.  Many harbor seals have come to live on the Children's Pool, a small sandy beach protected by the seawall.  Often pups can be seen lying next to their mothers.

Keiko, this is such a peaceful painting! It reminds me of the year I spent in the Monterey/Carmel area long ago. I enjoyed going to the harbor and watching the sea lions and seals. It was fascinating to be able to share their world!

Thank you, Jim, for your kind comment. I agree with you when you said that we share 'their' world.
