This is a view from a seawall that stretches out from the Children's Pool to the Pacific Ocean. The seawall was a gift from
Ellen B. Scripps, a philanthropist and long-time La Jolla resident.
I like walking out onto the seawall because of a unique vantage point, like this, of the La Jolla coastline.
I also like it for another reason for which many visitors come here, too: to see marine mammals up close and personal. Many harbor seals have come to live on the Children's Pool, a small sandy beach protected by the seawall. Often pups can be seen lying next to their mothers.
