 Paris Café XXXIX
This little neighborhood café stands on one of the thoroughfares leading to Gare Saint-Lazare, one of the major railway stations in Paris. A day has just started and soft morning light suggests it is going to be a nice day. While two customers are enjoying an espresso on a sidewalk, another has stopped by to grab a freshly-baked croissant. The Saint-Lazare Station is a huge, busy terminus for trains going to the suburbs and regions northwest of Paris. It's been a favorite subject depicted in paintings of famous artists - Claude Monet and Edouard Manet among others. If you plan a visit to Giverny to see Monet's house and garden, you'll most likely come to this station to take a train to Vernon to catch a connecting bus to Giverny.
