Del Mar (SD100-54)

Del Mar is a lovely seaside town just north of Torrey Pines State Beach.  Because the area around here is so picturesque, it once attracted Hollywood stars.

This painting shows a main street that runs through this small town.  There's no high-rises; many buildings along the street are small and quaint-looking with a European atmosphere.

Beaches are very popular, too, with both locals and vacationers, and many come here for surfing as in Beach Boys' song "You'd catch em surfin at Del Mar... (Surfin' USA)."

Del Mar Dog Beach is located at the north end of Del Mar.  Dogs really love this stretch of sand.  I never see them running and splashing in the water so happily as they do here.
