Mission San Diego de Alcala (SD100-50)
When I started San Diego 100 Project back in February, I boldly announced that I'd make 100 paintings of San Diego. Well, today I've reached half-way point of this project. I certainly don't want to pretend that it has been easy but it has been a fantastic experience! It was late afternoon on another sunny day in San Diego when we visited Mission San Diego de Alcala. Padre Junipero Serra founded this mission in 1769 as the first in the chain of 21 missions in California. Through the gate by the bell tower, we went to a garden inside. It was small and peaceful with lush greenery. Tall palm trees were casting shadows all around us; only the St. Francis wishing well was bathed in sunlight.
